PQA028 — Invalid owner value

An entity's owner: is something other than person or shared.

Ownership decides how an entity is paired during synchronization.

Value Meaning
person The entity belongs to one person — a card, a user record. It is resolved per person.
shared The entity is installation-wide — a time zone, an access level. Many people reference the same row.

Ownership is normally inferred from the reference graph: an entity nothing references is a person-owned root, an entity referenced from a person-owned entity is shared. owner: is an override for the cases where the graph is misleading.

Why the build refuses this

There is no third mode to fall back to. An unrecognised value cannot be honoured, and quietly reverting to inference would hide the fact that an explicit override was asked for and ignored.

How to fix it

Write one of the two spellings, lowercase, or delete the line and let inference decide.

owner: shared

Reach for the override only when inference gets it wrong — and when it does, check first whether the real defect is a flattened reference (see PQA030).

What is not reported

An entity with no owner:. That is the normal shape; ownership is inferred.

If you disagree with a report

Do not suppress it. A wrong report is a bug in the check — report it with the YAML that triggered it.
